Located in the heart of the district, halfway between the Gare St. Lazare and the Gare du Nord (Eurostar) train stations. The diversity of this arrondissement is due, in part, to its geography and bordering districts as it leads gently uphill from south to north to approach the buttes Montmartre. The south (Opera Garnier, Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores) offers a tourist-saturated centre with a mix of commerce and businesses. The northwest is the red light district of Pigalle and the more ‘populaire’ Clichy, with its famous Moulin Rouge and bustling nightlife.
